Ahh, yes, my first Christmas in Kansas. After a half hour drive to find the Rayl Christmas tree farm we just had to visit (and that was a half hour of driving in circles - or in Kansas, driving in squares), we arrived to find a field of cows, a few plants that may qualify as Christmas bushes, a saw, a coffee can (for your money), and a sign inviting us to help ourselves.
Yes, a Christmas tree farm - heavy on the F-A-R-M.
After arming myself with an empty soda bottle with some pennies in it - yes, arming myself. (I don't know these cows. They look young and like they have a little attitude. Pennies in a bottle make for a sure fire noise-maker and any farm girl knows that can keep a cow at bay.) After arming myself, Tracy and I head out to the tree patch.
This was a blessed farm. Christmas Patties galore!
The frequency of the Christmas Patties and
the menancing pregnant cow convinced Tracy and I to move on to another Christmas Tree Farm - maybe on a little heavier on the Christmas and the Tree than on the Farm.
